Peak Cluster is a decarbonisation project which aims to reduce the carbon emissions arising from four cement and lime production sites in the Derbyshire and Staffordshire.
The project aims to capture carbon dioxide (CO2) produced during the processing of cement and lime and transport it through a purpose built underground pipeline to the coast to be permanently stored in Morecambe Net Zero (MNZ), deep under the East Irish seabed.
Current scoping plans indicate that the pipeline may pass through Over Alderley Parish, however, the areas shown on the consultation plans are not finalised and the precise position of the proposed pipeline hasn’t yet been determined.
Residents are encouraged to participate in the public consultation which is open until 27th February, 2026. The consultation is being undertaken using in-person events, online webinars and via hard copy documents at public places. Details of the dates and locations for the consultation events are available on the Peak Cluster website.
