Lower Withington Parish/Village Hall Committee
Funding has been approved for new Aluminium curtain walls for the main hall windows at Lower Withington Village Hall, along with new Aluminium front entrance and to replace all the single glazed doors & windows with new energy efficient UPVC ones. Our sincere thanks go out to the following organisations / individuals:
- FCC Communities Foundation for their kind grant of £19,674
- Our Parish Council for being our contributing third party for the above grant
- Action with Communities in Rural England for their kind grant of £10,218
- Our own village Rose Day committee for their kind donation of £3,000
- Our very generous community who have supported our “buy a pane of glass” campaign, we have raised £10,500 from this campaign and also to all those individuals who have supported our recent fundraising events in 2023 where we have raised another £5,600
This money will be used to replace the windows, front entrance, and fire doors to improve our energy efficiency and to make the hall more appealing to hire this wonderful large space.
The chairman of our Village Hall committee believes the improvements will make a huge difference to the people of our village who use the hall on a regular basis. He says “This project will provide a real boost to the community. It is fantastic that both FCC Communities Foundation and Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE) have awarded us the grant money and we are really looking forward to our modernised village hall taking shape in the next few months.”
FCC Communities is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.
Richard Smith, FCC Communities Foundation senior grant manager, says: “We’re delighted to be supporting the improvements to Lower Withington Village Hall and pleased our funding will make such a difference to so many groups who regularly use the building. FCC Communities Foundation is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that benefit local communities and we’re looking forward to this one having a positive impact very soon.”
ACRE is responsible for overseeing the grant and operates under delegated authority from the Department of Environment food and Rural Affairs and this grant money was made available through the Platinum Jubilee Fund.
The ACRE spokesperson says “We are delighted to have been able to offer Lower Withington Village Hall a grant which will enable the hall to be energy efficient and at the same time create an improved environment for the community to enjoy the space”
